One off set towards the diff on the pan, and the other on the tail. And you remove the rear subframe bolts so it tilts way down. Support the engine of course. You of course cant just drop the trans down because the subframe, so you have to lower the *** end of the trans, push it back. lower front and back, push it further back.

Check the Friction Plates. One of the more common mechanical problems with these transmissions are the friction plates burning out. Audi did apparently have some issues with friction plate burnout on the earlier models. If you find this to be the case, a professional repair will likely run you into the higher end of $2,000.
